In the Talons of the Blackbird

“In the Talons of the Blackbird” is a poem full of vivid imagery about the beauty of the world. Most likely originally written in early 2022.

In the talons of the blackbird

Rests a withering rose.

Seven grand crows

Circle the sunbaked cat.

Blackbird lands

On the mighty oak tree.

Rose petals fall

Like spilling wine.

The passage of time

Does not destroy the beauty,

Beauty shifts,

Never dies.

A day before,

Cat was aloof and spry.

Adorned with sleek, fierce features

And gemlike eyes.

The withering rose

Was in full bloom,

But the grand crows were juvenile,

And the sun not yet glorious.

A still life

Is a life unlived, a death untimed.
